Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), XRP (CRYPTO: XRP), and Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) Sentiment Analysis
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) and XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) are experiencing a surge in negative sentiment, while Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) is holding its ground, presenting a potential contrarian buying opportunity, according to analytics firm Santiment.
Sentiment Weakening: Santiment reported that the sentiment around Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and other major tokens has been declining for nearly two months, with the recent Binance hack accelerating this trend. Bitcoin's current bullish sentiment stands at 0.69, while XRP's is even lower at 0.61. Ethereum, though experiencing a drop in enthusiasm, is relatively healthier at 1.14.
Historical Contrarian Opportunities: Santiment highlights that historically, periods of extreme negative sentiment have often led to significant contrarian buying opportunities once the panic subsides.
Traders' Perspective: Trader Michaël van de Poppe expressed his optimism about buying the dip, attributing the extreme negativity in sentiment to a potential overreaction. He noted Bitcoin's rejection near $79,000 and its subsequent slide to $75,000, suggesting that Election Day might mark a low in a classic "sell the rumor, buy the news" scenario.
Ethereum's Momentum: Van de Poppe also pointed out that Ethereum is demonstrating more momentum than Bitcoin, even within a weak overall market, indicating growing demand within the Ethereum ecosystem.
XRP's Past Election Day Performance: However, XRP's historical performance on Election Days is not encouraging. In 2018, XRP dropped 36% after trading at $0.55, and a similar pattern occurred in 2022, with a 22% slide after FTX's collapse.
