BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes proposed a $10,000 target for Ethereum by December 2026 in his September 3, 2026 newsletter. However, we believe this timeline is overly ambitious.
Let's explore what Ethereum would need to reach $10,000 by 2030.
Ethereum is currently trading at $2,267, 54.2% below its all-time high. Despite a 16.1% drop in October, it has still risen 22% over the past three months.
To reach $10,000:
- Ethereum's market value would need to be approximately $1.22 trillion, 4.4 times its current value.
- This implies about 42.8% annual growth over the next four years.
- At $10,000, Ethereum's market value would be roughly 77.9% of Bitcoin's current market value.
Factors to Consider:
- Increasing supply: Ethereum has no maximum supply, and validators receive new ETH as rewards.
- Transaction fees: Every transaction burns a portion of the fee, influencing supply dynamics.
