Nicole Taylor: A Life Remembered at 35
Nicole Taylor, one-third of the country music group Taylor Red, has died at the age of 35 after a valiant battle with breast cancer. Her sisters and bandmates, Nika and Natalie, shared the devastating news in an emotional YouTube video uploaded on November 2nd. They also offered a heartfelt tribute to their sister's strength, faith, and determination throughout her illness.
In the video, Nika and Natalie expressed their disbelief at having to make such an announcement. "This isn't a video we ever thought we'd be making," they said. "We thought she'd be here sharing her story of earthly healing. Instead, we’re sharing her story of heavenly healing."
They remembered Nicole as their beloved elder sister and best friend, describing her as their leader and the guiding force in their family. Taylor Red is the country music trio composed of the three identical sisters from Hurley, Mississippi.
According to Nika and Natalie, Nicole was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022. Despite receiving a stage three aggressive diagnosis, she remained hopeful, placing her faith in God and stating, "God's going to use this for his glory."
Natalie recalled Nicole's resilience, even during chemotherapy, as she continued doing CrossFit and kept the mood light for her sisters. At one point, doctors declared no evidence of the disease, but the cancer later progressed to stage four.
Despite the grim prognosis, Nicole continued living her life without fear, her sisters said. They shared a video message from Nicole herself, revealing that she lived for a year after receiving the stage four diagnosis.
Beyond her music career and cancer journey, Nika and Natalie remembered Nicole as a great speaker, confident in her beliefs, and the first among them to give her life to Christ. They also shared her favourite things: charcuterie, travel, food, and her favourite colour, cheetah print. Music was a significant part of her life, from learning the drums to playing the banjo and guitar.
Nicole also co-hosted a radio show with Taste of Country. The sisters celebrated Nicole's life, remembering her as not just a bandmate but their leader and best friend.
