Ethereum Stablecoin Transfers Reach Record $2.82 Trillion in October

Circle's USDC moved $1.62 trillion across Ethereum in October, while Tether's USDT added another $895.5 billion, according to data from The Block. This marked a 45% increase from September's record of $1.94 trillion.

While Ethereum's daily active addresses declined, the volume of stablecoin transfers reached an all-time high, indicating traders are opting to park their funds in stablecoins rather than leaving the network.

Monthly stablecoin transfer volume on Ethereum totaled a staggering $2.82 trillion in October, surpassing the annual GDP of many countries. CoinMarketCap's analysis suggests that investors sought yield during this period, favoring stablecoins on Ethereum.

Despite the apparent cooling of Ethereum's network usage, with a 24% drop in daily active addresses from mid-August to late October, the volume of stablecoin transfers increased significantly. This shift highlights institutional-sized flows and repositioning.

Decentralized exchanges (DEXs) played a significant role, with Uniswap processing $170.9 billion in October, contributing to a total DEX volume of $613.3 billion. Stablecoin pairs dominated liquidity provision on these exchanges, offering returns typically ranging from 2% to 8% APY.

Solana, meanwhile, processed $5 trillion in stablecoin volume, despite holding only 5% of the supply, further emphasizing the growing importance of stablecoins in the crypto ecosystem.
