What is Ethereum?

Ethereum is a decentralized computing platform that enables users to build and run applications without the need for centralized oversight. It's the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, valued at approximately $233 billion. The native cryptocurrency used to facilitate transactions on the Ethereum network is called ETH.

Ethereum Price History:

Ethereum's initial coin offering (ICO) in 2014 started at just 31 cents per share, leading to an astonishing 60,000% increase. Over the past five years (2020-2025), its value has risen by 46%, but it has experienced significant volatility. Ethereum reached a peak of nearly $5,000 in August 2025, but has since seen substantial fluctuations, including a sharp decline in early 2026 due to economic concerns and sales by co-founder Vitalik Buterin.

Ethereum vs. Bitcoin:

Ethereum, while second to Bitcoin in the cryptocurrency market, serves a different purpose. After Bitcoin, it's the largest cryptocurrency.
